Not irritating to eyes — very important!
Feels silky and smooth on the skin, and not irritating to eyes — very important! Nice, subtle smell that's not overpowering. Removed makeup nicely, even mascara.  Feels great on the skin, gives a deep cleanse and makes my skin feel fresh after use.

Nice texture, got a luxe feel to it
Nice texture, I love that it’s a bit thicker and it’s got a luxe feel to it. Works great to remove makeup and mascara, felt like my face was really clean after. Non-irritating to the eyes. Easily washes off with warm water, no sticky residue after, which is great. Fairly neutral scent, I like this better than artificial fragrance kinda smell. Overall, really enjoyed using!

Leaves skin very hydrated
Thicker, more viscous than other cleansing oils I’ve used (i.e. Dermalogica Pre-Cleanse). Feels luxurious! Noticed that it doesn’t emulsify as much as other cleansing oils I’ve used, though leaves skin very hydrated. Fully removes my makeup, including waterproof mascara. Scent is quite “seed oil”-y if that makes sense.

Can I use the Hydrating Cleansing Oil with my custom formula?

Yes! This ultra-gentle formulation pairs perfectly with your clinical strength formula. Use the Hydrating Cleansing Oil as a first step to remove debris and prepare your skin for treatment.

Where does the Hydrating Cleansing Oil fit into my skincare routine?

The Hydrating Cleansing Oil can be used both morning and night. We especially recommend it as the first step in your evening routine to remove makeup and debris from the day. Follow with active ingredients like toners or serums, and finish with a hydrating moisturiser.

Should I use the Hydrating Cleansing Oil in the morning?

The Hydrating Cleansing Oil can be used morning or night. Those with particularly sensitive skin, or rosacea, may want to use the cleansing oil morning and night - in lieu of a water-based cleanser, to effectively and gently cleanse without stripping the skin. You can also stick to a water-based cleanser, or wash your face with water in the morning.

What is the difference between an oil-based cleanser and a water-based cleanser?

Traditional water-based cleansers are designed to remove water-based impurities, like sweat and dirt. Because they aim to remove everything from the skin, they can also remove the natural oils your skin needs to thrive. This can leave your skin dry and sensitive, and in some cases, even oilier as your skin over-produces oil to compensate for the loss.

Oil-based cleansers are excellent at breaking down oil-based substances, like makeup, sunscreen and sebum. Cleansing oils lift the impurities so you can gently wipe them away without any harsh scrubbing. It’s a much gentler process that keeps your skin nourished and happy, supporting the skin’s barrier and microbiome.

Are oil-based cleansers good for acne?

Yes, facial cleansing oils are great for acne. While using an oil cleanser for acne-prone skin may seem counterintuitive, oil cleansers are great at gently removing makeup, sunscreen, sebum and excess oils without stripping your skin’s good oils. This means that your skin is less likely to over-produce oil to make up for a loss of good oils.

The Hydrating Cleansing Oil has anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties, making it an excellent first step in an acne-focused skincare routine.
